Ballistic helmet questions

Can a ballistic helmet really stop a bullet?

Our ballistic helmets are carefully engineered and put through extensive testing to guarantee maximum head protection. They are certified beyond the NIJ 0106.01 standard and withstand rounds such as .44 Magnum, .357 SIG, and 9 mm FMJ while maintaining exceptionally low backface deformation. In addition, they provide fragmentation resistance up to 660 m/s, tested in accordance with STANAG 2920.

How do I find the right size for a ballistic helmet?

To choose the correct helmet size, simply measure the circumference of your head with a flexible tape measure. Wrap the tape around your head just above the ears and about 2–3 cm above your eyebrows.

How is a ballistic helmet made?

Ballistic helmets are produced by carefully layering advanced fibers into a mold, where they are compressed under high pressure to create a durable, impact-resistant shell. Once the protective base is formed, components such as padding, chin straps, and mounting rails are added to enhance comfort, stability, and versatility.

Is my ballistic helmet ready to wear when I receive it?

Yes, your ballistic helmet is ready to use right out of the box. No additional setup is required – simply adjust the fit to your head and you’re good to go. For those who want to customize the placement of the Velcro or other accessories, a quick guide is also included.

Hard armor questions

What does NIJ Level III mean?

NIJ Level III is a ballistic protection standard set by the U.S. National Institute of Justice. It certifies armor that can stop rifle rounds such as 7.62×51 mm NATO (.308 Winchester) full metal jacket (FMJ).

How is Level III different from Level IIIA?

Level IIIA is designed for handgun protection, while Level III is specifically rated to stop rifle threats. In other words, Level III armor covers a much wider range of ballistic threats and offers significantly higher protection.

What calibers does Level III armor stop?

NIJ Level III is tested to defeat 7.62×51 mm FMJ at a velocity of 847 m/s. Many Level III plates also stop common intermediate rifle calibers such as 5.56×45 mm NATO and 7.62×39 mm, depending on the exact construction and certification.

Do Level III plates stop armor-piercing rounds?

No. Standard NIJ Level III plates are designed to stop lead-core FMJ rifle rounds, not armor-piercing ammunition. For that level of protection, NIJ Level IV plates are required.
